Designing the Vision
In meeting with potential clients, I was tasked with mocking out BillGO’s bill payment API in each client’s experience. This was to both showcase the API’s features, as well as lay the groundwork for proper implementation. Once signed, I would work with the client’s product & design teams to turn this vision into reality.
While at BillGO, I mocked out the API end-to-end in over 40 partners’ experiences.
API First
In wanting to drive API usage over drop-in widgets, the goal was to first incite excitement by the partner into using the APIs through mock-ups. Once bought off on this vision, these mock-ups then became a teaching tool for them to build the proper experience.
Because the APIs were built primarily from the Prism app, I wanted to make sure that partners nailed this proven UX and flows when building the API in their experience.
Below is the “Find & Add Biller” flow in Credit Karma’s UI.
1. An interstitial to announce new bill pay functionality.
2. A carousel showing all of the new features to the user.
3. After entering their Zip, the user is show geo-specific billers.
4. Once a user locates their biller, they simply log into it.
5. Their bill & account information is then displayed.
6. The user can then quickly pay their bill.
I was fortunate enough to get to work with many of the top 20 banks in the country, as well as some very well-known fintechs. Below you’ll find a selection of the mock-ups I completed for these partners.
